Gerry's three decades at the Yard included command of the London Crime Squad, the National Mobile Phone Crime Unit and Scotland Yard's Violent Crime Directorate, culminating in command of the Specialist Crime and Operations Taskforce — 1,350 staff. He coordinated security for high-profile events at Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace, and held senior command positions for presidential visits.
